Q: What do you love most about the financial industry?
A: It’s always been important to me to find work that is interesting and it’s always a bonus to help people. With financial planning everyday is different because every client is different. I love getting to know the people I’m helping and diving into their individual needs to figure out how to best serve them.
Q: Why did you become a Certified Financial Planner?
A: Math was always interesting to me, I am a numbers person, but many careers associated with this do not involve working with people and building relationships. Financial planning combined something I was good at technically and my desire to improve the quality of life for my clients. It’s a win-win!
Q: Have you seen a change and growth as far as opportunity for women in the financial industry specifically?
A: The industry is much more diverse with women than it was when I first started in the 80’s. We are equals, not just staff members. We have proven we can be leaders in this industry right along with everyone else.
Q: What advice would you give to women interested in a career in finance and specifically as a financial planner?
A: It is a tough industry, there is a lot of work to be done and relationships matter. You really just need to be confident and believe in yourself.
